What do the reading levels mean?

Age 5 is short and friendly, with everyday examples. Age 10 gives clear steps and real examples. Teen uses the proper terms and explains them as it goes. Expert is precise, with the mechanisms and caveats. You can change the level before you ask, or tap Simpler or Go deeper on any answer.

What uses a question?

Only a new question uses one of your monthly questions, including one sent with Explain this from another app. Everything inside a question is free: follow-ups, Simpler, Go deeper, examples and analogies. Reopening anything in your Library is free too.

I bought Premium but my questions did not go up

Open the You tab and tap Restore purchases. If that doesn't fix it, check you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase, then email us.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Go to iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, choose ELI5 and tap Cancel Subscription.

An answer looks wrong

Answers are written by AI and can contain mistakes. Check anything important with a trusted source, and email us the question if something is badly off so we can improve it.

Where is my Library stored?

Only on your device. It is removed if you delete the app. Swipe left on an explanation in the Library to delete it.
